Next Generation Sequencing: Technology, Applications and Data Analysis

On the 13th of June 2014, the seminar “Next Generation Sequencing: Technology, Applications and Data Analysis” will be held at the International Centre for Veterinary Training and Information (CIFIV) "Francesco Gramenzi" of the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell’Abruzzo e del Molise “G. Caporale” (IZSAM).

The event is connected with the visit of Dr. Marc Allard of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), who will come to Italy accruing from the 12th of July. Dr. Allard, who is the coordinator of the research group on genomics at the Division of Microbiology of FDA, is an expert in phylogenetic analysis and bioinformatics: in particular, he is specialized in food-born pathogen comparative genomics.

The seminar will give him the opportunity to present the state of art of NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) -techniques at national and international level, with particular attention to the possible application of these innovative technologies in the field of animal health and food safety. The seminar is mainly addressed to the IZSAM’ staff. 5,5 CEM (Continuing Education in Medicine) training credits will be assigned to the participants.
