The Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell’Abruzzo e del Molise 'Giuseppe Caporale' is a public veterinary health institute with administrative and managerial autonomy. It operates as a technical and scientific body supporting the Italian government and the Regions of Abruzzo and Molise, providing public veterinary services with the analytical support and scientific expertise needed to carry out their duties in the field of veterinary public health.
From around one hundred employees in the late 1980s, the Institute has grown into a robust organisation that now employs approximately 600 professionals, including veterinarians, chemists, biologists, engineers, IT specialists, and many others. Together, they deliver high-level scientific and innovative services to the international market, contributing to the protection of animal and human health.
It was in 1990, forty-nine years after its founding, that the Institute took its first steps onto the international stage. Over time, this path has proven successful, to the extent that the Institute has never stopped exporting its know-how in areas such as research, risk analysis, epidemiology, food safety, animal health and welfare, training, and the development and management of animal identification databases.
To contribute to human physical, mental and social well-being through the application of veterinary science, adopting the One Health approach.
