The G. Caporale Institute in Zimbabwe and Botswana

 

In the second half of October 2012, engineers Patrizia Colangeli ed Ercole Del Negro of the G. Caporale Institute went to Zimbabwe at the Harare National Veterinary Laboratory, for the installation and customization of the Laboratory Information Management System, SILAB, that the Institute for the African countries. To date, three National Laboratories in South Africa are using SILAB: Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe while the Central Veterinary Laboratory in Zambia will start implementing it in November.

  

The Institute computer experts, in collaboration with the staff of the Laboratory of Harare, set up the installation of the application and the loading / testing of the basic databases as well as the necessary customization of the software and the configuration of both hardware and network.

  

Furthermore, they engaged in the training of Reception personnel as well as that of the technical and management staff of the two pilot departments, i.e., Bacteriology and Virology, and two "System Administrators" as well as one computer technician: training on site with Engineer Del Negro is scheduled until November the 8th. Eng. Colangeli also travelled to Botswana to test and enhance the functioning of the SILAB used by the Central Veterinary Laboratory since March 2012.
