Newsletter “L’Istituto”: uscito il n. 22

The 22nd edition of the IZSAM Newsletter focuses on the IV International Conference on Bluetongue, which was held from the 5th to the 7th of November 2014 in Rome. The Conference gathered together the main bluetongue experts worldwide and counted about 300 scientists coming from 38 countries.

During the three days, researchers, representatives of the main international organizations and of the European Union, as well as the representatives of the National authorities and of the world of animal husbandry exchanged their opinions on the factors influencing emergence and the spread of bluetongue virus, on animal-vector-host-virus interaction and on the most recent developments of the laboratory diagnosis.

During the Conference, organized by IZSAM, who is an OIE Reference Laboratory for Bluetongue and the National Reference Centre for the Study of Exotic Animal Diseases (CESME), it has been reiterated several times that the vaccination still is the main preventive measure for the Bluetongue virus, as reported by Doctor Lorusso in the exhaustive article in the central pages of the Newspaper.

The Newspaper refers also to another interesting event speaking about the new organism named Petrut, which was presented during a public meeting with the President of the Regional Council, Luciano D’Alfonso, held on Monday the 15th of December in the conference room at the International Centre for Veterinary Training and Information. Petrut was created thanks to the synergy between IZSAM and the University of Teramo and has the objective of sharing ideas, competences and experiences in order to follow the orientations planned by the government of the Abruzzo Region and to seize the opportunity of development and growth of the territory based on the production and spread of knowledge.

The Newspaper is available in pdf format on the company website and on the issuu.com portal. The paper version can be withdrawn in all the IZSAM’ headquarters. This edition was printed in 11.000 copies and was send to companies, organizations, freelance veterinarians and veterinarians from the National Health Services all around Italy.
