IZSAM as CME provider standard

On the 21st of January 2015, the National Commission for Continuous Education in Medicine confirmedthe Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell’Abruzzo e del Molise “G. Caporale” (IZSAM) as CME standard provider for the next 4 years with the identification number 368.

Thanks to the CME process the health professionals get updated in order to answer the needs of the patients, the requirements of the Health services and their own professional development. The continuous education in medicine includes the acquisition of new knowledge, the ability and the useful attitude for practical competence and expertise. The health professionals have the ethical obligation to put into practice the new knowledge in order to offer qualitatively useful assistance, to take care of their own patients with the updated competences and without any conflicts of interest.

The launch of the CEM National Program in 2002, according to the legislative decrees 502/1992 and 229/1999, which established the obligation of continuous education for the health professionals, represented a strong message in the world of health. The new phase of CEM is based on a modern approach to the development of individual competences. From the 1st of January 2008, with the entry into force of the law N. 244 of the 24th of December 2007, the administrative management of the CEM program and the support of the National Commission for the Continuous Education, which were until then competence of the Ministry of Health, have been assigned to the National agency for regional health services (Agenas).

For IZSAM the education represents since the early ’90 a strategic management tool both at internal and external level, following two parallel lines: the technical and scientific training, and the managerial training. Over time the education services have undergone significant changes, anticipating the changes inside the scientific community and updating their own teaching methods.

From 2004, the IZSAM training activity is recognized by the TÜV Italy as being in compliance with the requirements of the standardUNI EN ISO 9001:2000 for the “Analysis, design, supply and evaluation of the information and training activities, whether specialized or managerial, within the health sectors” at the disposal of the central and peripheral veterinary services, the research laboratories, bodies, organizations, associations and companies, who make the request in Italy, Europe and throughout the world. IZSAM frequently hosts researchers coming from all over the world and reaches at the same time countries who want to use its competences to grow on a technical, scientific, managerial level and to increase the quality of their services.
