Companion Animals multisectoriaL interprofessionaL Interdisciplinary Strategic Think tank On zoonoses

Companion Animals multisectoriaL interprofessionaL Interdisciplinary Strategic Think tank On zoonoses (CALLISTO) is a research project financed within the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Commission on the role of companion animals in the transmission of zoonosis to humans and domestic-bred/livestock animals.

The Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell’Abruzzo e del Molise “G. Caporale” (IZSAM) is partner of the initiative and contributes to the research activity in the epidemiological and sociological field with experts, who are directly involved in the think tank works. Moreover, IZSAM coordinates the divulgation and communication activities and manages the website of the project.

By visiting the www.callistoproject.eu website it is possible to read the Second Strategy Report of the project, dedicated to the risk analysis of zoonosis transmitted by companion animals and to the second cycle of the project activities. The Youtube CALLISTO channel, updated on May 2014, contains new videos with interviews filmed during the Second General Conference of the project, which was held in Brussels in October 2013. The CALLISTO website hosts also a blog for the exchange of comments and opinions between all those interested in the relationship between man and companion animals and in a healthy interaction between them.
