CAPS2: five experts from Croatia and Montenegro will be in Teramo for a period of training

From the 27th to the 31st January 2014, five laboratory technicians of the involved project partners, i.e. the Croatian Veterinary Institute, involving both laboratories of Split and Rijeka (CVI-Split e CVI-Rijeka), and the Centre for Ecotoxicological Research of Montenegro (CETI), will be trained on Benzopyrene and other Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons PAHs at the Laboratory of Bromatology of the IZSAM.

The training course fits into the activity programme of the project "Strengthening of Centres of Aquaculture production and Safety surveillance in Adriatic Cross-border Countries" – CAPS2 in the framework of the Adriatic IPA CBC 2007-2013 Programme of the European Union. The main objective of the project is to improve the surveillance of fish and mollusc safety conditions in the Adriatic Area. The training course aims to strengthen diagnostic capabilities and know-how in relation to heavy metals, benzopyrene and other Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH) and biotoxins contamination of fish and shellfish produced in the Adriatic sea.

According to work package 3, the staff of the project partner will be involved in the IZSAM laboratories for a period of training in different sectors in order to implement official methods for the analysis and diagnosis of fish and shellfish diseases and to control the standards of safety conditions of live fish and molluscs (Regulation 853/2004).
