"Responsible Dog Ownership in Europe" ConferenceThe "Responsible Dog Ownership in Europe" Conference, organised by the G. Caporale Institute and the Vier Pfoten International Association, was held at the Sandton Hotel Leopold in Brussels on 4th and 5th October 2010. The Conference focused on sustainable strategies for combating canine overpopulation in Europe and reducing its adverse effects on human health and animal welfare. The Conference provided the ideal opportunity to present to the public and professionals the new website CAROdog.eu, which stands for "Companion Animal Responsible Ownership: dogs". This innovative project, developed by Vier Pfoten in collaboration with the G. Caporale Institute, relates to the management of information about the canine population; it is designed to promote responsible dog ownership, and welcomes contributions from all those concerned with the issue. The Conference was attended by delegates belonging to EU institutions, international NGOs, governments, national veterinary services and veterinary associations in some 25 countries.
