Visit by Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs

On 18 November 2010 the Italian Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Stefania Craxi, visited the G. Caporale Institute's International Veterinary Training and Information Centre at Colleatterrato Alto (TE), where she met the director and executive staff of the Institute to discuss the progress of international projects in the Mediterranean area.

Hon. Craxi praised the Institute's activities in areas ranging from the Balkans to the Middle East and North Africa where, among other technical and scientific projects, its experts are playing an active part in establishing food safety standards which are crucial to the implementation of a single Mediterranean market.

"The Caporale Institute is a very important organisation", said the Secretary of State. "It is a centre of excellence recognised by the World Organisation for Animal Health, which is perhaps not sufficiently well-known in Italy, but is internationally respected".
