The Institute in Tunis for the Tunisia-France-Italy Twining

 

On April the 19th, 2012, as part of the institutional twinning between the Ministry of Agriculture of Tunisia, the Ministry of Agriculture of France and the G. Caporale i nstitute ( i taly), the "Renforcement des capacités du Centre National de Veille Zoosanitaire" seminar was held in the conference room of the National Council of the Order of Veterinary Surgeons of Tunis.

 

This two-year twinning (January 2012 - January 2014) is funded by the European Union and aims to strengthen the epidemiological surveillance of animal diseases in Tunisia and develop the capacity of the Centre National de Veille Zoosanitaire created in Tunis in 2007.

 

The seminar provided an opportunity to present the twinning objectives to administrative and veterinary i nstitutions as well as to professional associations. The twinning, indeed, aims to collect proposals for the adjustment of national strategies concerning the prevention and surveillance of animal diseases, define priority diseases and develop i nformation s ystems able to foster data-sharing regarding animal disease surveillance throughout the entire territory.

 

After the greetings of the Minister of Agriculture of Tunisia and the ambassadors of the EU, Italy and France, the twinning was illustrated by the project leaders of the involved countries: Prof. Salah Hammami (Tunisia), Dr. Yves Marchal (France) and Dr. Fabrizio de Massis of the G. Caporale Institute (Italy). 

Also present at the seminar, from the Istituto G. Caporale,  Dr. Alberto Mancuso, head of the national and international Project Department, and Dr. Daniela Morelli.
