The G. Caporale Institute in Tanzania

From the 17^th to the 19^th of July, 2012, veterinary doctors Alberto Mancuso, Massimo Scacchia and engineer Patrizia Colangeli of the G. Caporale Institute, carried out a pre-audit visit at the Tanzania Veterinary Laboratory Agency (TVLA) in Dar es Salaam.

The occasion benefited the drafting of a project to present to FAO, aiming to provide the country with the TVLA of Diagnostic Laboratories' Information Systems (SILAB), developed by the Institute for South African countries and now in use in Namibia and Botswana. The pilot project with Tanzania will be eventually extended, under FAO aegis, to other countries in the area.

The delegation of the Institute was received by the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development, Yohana Budeba, and the Director of the Laboratory, Sachindra Das. They both reasserted their strong interest and will to participate in the FAO-funded project, and instate scientific collaboration relationships with the Teramo G. Caporale Institute. Throughout the mission other collaboration opportunities were identified and a Memorandum of Understanding between the two Institutes was drafted.
