The assessor Silvio Paolucci visited IZSAM

On Friday the 10th of October from 12:30 the Regional Assessor for Health of the Abruzzo Region Silvio Paolucci visited the headquarters of the Istituto Zooprofilattico dellìAbruzzo e del Molise “G. Caporale” (IZSAM). The researchers and directors of IZSAM presented the activities and ongoing projects having the objective of physical, mental and social wellbeing of humans through research and experimentation actions addressed to the integrated system “animal welfare and health – food safety – environmental protection”.

The Assessor Paolucci, accompanied by the IZSAM’ General Director Fernando Arnolfo, visited the laboratories and in particular the “Biotechnology Research and Development” Unit, the area of molecular biology, and the “Bromatology, Residues in foods for human and animal consumption” Unit, where there is also the National Reference Laboratory for Dioxins.

The visit was concluded in the afternoon at the International Center for Veterinary Training and Information (CIFIV) where, among the main issues discussed, the project on the new headquarters of IZSAM in L’Aquila was analyzed in more depth.

The collaboration between IZSAM and the new Regional Council immediately proved to be solid and ready for operating, as shown by the vaccination campaign against Bluetongue started recently in the Abruzzo Region and which caused Assessor Paolucci to declare: “Thanks to the strong synergy between the Region and IZSAM the emergence is kept under control and all the containment measures have been adopted”.
