The EFSA published the External Scientific Report on the evaluation of dairy cows

 

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published, on the 15th of September, the External Scientific Report on the ‘Use of animal based measures for the assessment of dairy cow welfare’.

 

 

The report is the final outcome of the ANIBAM project, funded by the EFSA, and concluded last June. Aim of the project was to identify, validate and collect data on animal-based measures to create a database for quantitative assessment of the welfare of dairy cows.

 

 

The project Consortium involved a total of seven research institutes belonging to five different European countries. The Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell'Abruzzo e del Molise "G. Caporale” was partner of the project team, employing its experts from the Human-Animal Relationship and Animal Welfare Laboratory and the GIS and statistics department.
