From the 19th to the 27th of May, three veterinarians were trained in Teramo within the framework of the OIE twinning project on food safety between the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell’Abruzzo e del Molise “G. Caporale” and the Institut de la Recherche Veterinaire de Tunisie (IRVT).
On Thursday the 29th of May, IZSAM will host an inter-sessional seminar of the triennial European project “CAPS2 - Strengthening of Centres for Aquaculture production and Safety surveillance in Adriatic Cross-border Countries”, which aims to improve the surveillance of fish and mollusc safety conditions in the Adriatic Area.
The Fourth International Conference on Bluetongue and related Orbiviruses will be officially announced during the 82nd General Session of the World Assembly of OIE Delegates, that will be held in Paris from 25 to 30 May 2014.
Within the framework of the 2° International Conference on animal health surveillance, the IZSAM organized a workshop at the Hotel Occidental Miramar of La Havana in cooperation with FAO, whereof the Institute is Reference Centre for Veterinarian Epidemiology.
From the 4th to the 7th of May 2014, two delegates of the IZSAM took part in The Hague to the 40th conference organized by the Animal Transportation Association, contributing with four presentations.
Within the framework of an OIE Twinning project between the IZSAM and the National Veterinary Centre of Astana, two researchers from the Republic of Kazakhstan will be at the Institute until the 16th of May for a period of training on brucellosis.
The second session of the training course organized by the IZSAM, on behalf of the Ministry of Health, will be held on the 13th and 14th of May 2014 in Torino at the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale del Piemonte, Liguria e Valle d’Aosta.
From the 12th to the 15th of May 2014, the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell’Abruzzo e del Molise “G. Caporale” is organizing in Hering in Denmark, the third session of the training course on “Animal welfare in pig production” within the framework of the initiative “Better Training for Safer Food” promoted by the DG SANCO of the European Commission.
The YouTube CALLISTO channel and its website were updated with reports and videos of the second cycle of activities. CALLISTO is a European project on the role of companion animals in the transmission of zoonosis to humans and domestic-bred/livestock animals.
Between the end of April and the end of May 2014, some experts of the Food Safety and Veterinary Institute of Albania and the Veterinary Faculty of Sarajevo, will be trained on the detection of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) and Biotoxins at the the Laboratory of Bromatology of the IZSAM.
IZSAM took part to the event by presenting the strategic approach, the methodology and the primary objectives of training within the veterinary field for the promotion of animal welfare.
On the 13th and the 14th of May 2014, the second meeting of the Steering Group of the Platform on animal welfare for Europe was held at the OIE Regional Representation headquarters in Moscow.
