From the 3rd of November to the 12th of December 2014, Doctor Ekaterina Isselmou of the Centre National d’élevage et des Recherches Vétérinaires (CNERV), Nouakchott in Mauritania, attended the laboratories of the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell’Abruzzo e del Molise “G.Caporale” (IZSAM) for a period of training on the Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia (CBPP). Her presence at IZSAM is the result of a technical collaboration program with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a specialized UN-body with headquarters in Vienna, Austria, counting about 158 member States.
The activities concerning the direct and indirect diagnosis of CBPP were coordinated by Doctor Massimo Scacchia, responsible for the Laboratory for diagnosis of transmissible animal diseases (LADIMAT), and carried out by his collaborators. Doctor Isselmou succeeded in isolating strains of Mycoplasma mycoides from biological samples taken from CBPP outbreaks in Mauritania.
