CapRadNet meeting project in Croatia

 

 

On 4 and 5 October 2016, the second meeting, concerning the project CapRadNet titled “Capitalization and exploitation of RADar, based on infrastructure and decision support system for environmental hazard management NETwork in the Adriatic and Ionian region, held in Dubrovnik, - Croatia. This project was awarded with the tender notice “targeted call on EUSAIR” funded by the IPA Adriatic CBC 2007-2013 programme, for a total budget of almost 1.2 million of euros.

 

Furthermore, the Istituto, CapRadNet includes among its partners: CETEMPS University in L'Aquila (as project leader), the Civil Protection in Abruzzo region - Italy, the Branch of CIMA Research Found (in Albania), the Dubrovnik Neretva County (in Croatia), the Geological Survey of Slovenia (in Slovenia) and the Office of the Prime Minister Government (in Bosnia-Herzegovina). All the associated partners are: theCNR, the Civil Protection of the Marche region, the Istituto of Geosciences IGEWE and the Ministry of Interior and Civil Emergence (in Albania).

 

The CapRadNet goal, is to strengthen and develop the results of the project Caps 2 - Strengthening Centres for Aquaculture production and Safety Surveillance in the Adriatic Cross-border Countries. It is necessary to complement them to those two projects, financed by the IPA Adriatic CBC 2007-2013 programme. Its aim is to extend the decision support system (DSS) to manage those emergencies related to some heavy weather events - developed by ADRIARadNet project – in some coastal, marine, airport and urban areas. Health data and GIS web system, which was developed by Caps 2, will be complemented in the aforesaid DSS, which is made by weather radar, satellite sensors, numerical models of hydro-meteorological forecasting and a web platform, in order to exchange data and to strengthen that surveillance of marine and coastal environments.

 

To represent the IZSAM, there were Dr. Nicola Ferri, who presented the activities carried out by the Istituto as part of the project, Dr. Carla Ippoliti, who presented the data resulting from Caps 2, to be integrated in the hydrological model CapRadNet, Dr.Carla Giansante, Dr Federica Di Giacinto and Dr Fausta Roselli.

 

After this meeting, there was a public conference to present the activities and the targets of the project itself and a visit at the Marine Protected Area oysters of Ston.
