Biological Products
The Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale of Abruzzo and Molise “G. Caporale” offers an advanced service for the production of vaccines, diagnostic reagents, and therapeutic products aimed at the prevention, diagnosis, and control of infectious animal diseases, including those with zoonotic potential. The biological products developed are used in the fields of veterinary public health, food safety, and biodiversity protection, and are designed to meet the needs of public authorities, veterinary professionals, and stakeholders in the livestock sector.
The service includes:
- Bacterial and viral vaccines, including autogenous and herd-specific vaccines
- Diagnostic reagents, antigens, and reference sera
- Diagnostic kits for diseases of national and European concern
- Ready-to-use culture media, for microbiological analyses of clinical and food samples
- Reference materials for ring trials and interlaboratory testing
- Support services, such as glassware washing and sterilisation, and the treatment of biological waste
The products are distributed nationwide, including under commission from the Italian Ministry of Health, and include key tools for the diagnosis of brucellosis, tuberculosis, and bluetongue. A significant part of the service is also dedicated to research and development of innovative diagnostic and vaccine technologies, with particular focus on exotic diseases and emerging sector needs.
Production is supported by a licensed pharmaceutical unit compliant with current regulations and operated under a quality management system based on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
