Dear Readers,
I am pleased to share with you the 36/2022 edition of the National Veterinary Epidemiological Bulletin.
Thanks to the online version of the website, it is possible to consult updated data in real time on the outbreaks of diseases notified in the Animal Diseases Information System (SIMAN).
In the Data and Maps section, it is possible to generate updated and detailed maps, based on your needs, on the distribution of the main animal diseases notified in SIMAN in the period of interest.
In the Publications section, Dr Clara Tassinato et al., provide an overview of the infectious disease of Leptospirosis, a zoonosis scarcely considered in Western countries and, due to a decreased diagnostic capacity, with an underestimated prevalence. Despite this, the disease is of great importance for public health, especially in poor and developing countries, where the prevalence is highest.
In the second article, Dr Rosario Fico et al., describe in detail a case of murder of a wolf and how, thanks to the Forensic Veterinary Sciences for the fight against the illegal killing of animals and the excellent collaboration network, he managed to trace the culprits and convict them. A sad story with a happy and hopeful ending.
The third article focuses on Description of a foodborne disease outbreak caused by Streptococcus equi subsp. Zooepidemicusin the province of Pescara, in the period of time November 2021-June 2022.
In the section of the Free territories the Provinces and Regions free of bovine tuberculosis, bovine brucellosis and ovi-caprine brucellosis have been updated in accordance with Community legislation 1218 of 14 July 2022.
In the News section you will find a series of interesting news related to the period 2022 and all those of previous years (2011-2021).
In the Send your article section, which can be consulted through the drop-down menu Discover online service, you can consult the guidelines for authors and send the articles and short news to the editorial staff of the BENV.
To contact us you can also send an email to benv@izs.it
I wish you a pleasant reading of this new issue.
