Institutional Delegation in Namibia

From October 31st through November 6th, 2012, Doctor Pini, as head of the OIE Reference Lab for Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia, and Doctor Scacchia, scientific advisor for the activities undertaken by the Institute in southwestern Africa, travelled to Namibia where they met the Director of the Central Veterinary Laboratory (CVL) of Namibia, Adrianatus Maseke, the new Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Water (MAWF) Joseph Iita, and the representative for FAO in Namibia, Admir Bay.

The Institute's delegation had a discussion with Doctor Maseke and the staff of the CVL on how to finalize the twinning project for food safety that is financed by the OIE as well as the best way to continue the scientific collaboration between the two laboratories.

On November 1^st, Doctors Pini and Scacchia met the new Permanent Secretary of MAWF, Joseph Iita, together with his predecessor, Andrew Ndishishi, currently the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health: both men reiterated their willingness to continue their scientific collaboration with the G. Caporale Institute which dates back to 1996.  

On the sixth of November, finally, the Italian delegation, Doctor Maseke and Doctor Siegfried Khaiseb of the CVL met with the head of the FAO office in Namibia, Admir Bay, and the FAO programs assistant, Uparura Kuvare. The meeting allowed them to present the activities of the organization to the FAO, specifically those on international cooperation, as well as to deliver the institutional film and informational material about the Institute, and finally, it allowed them to understand the way in which the FAO representation present in each individual country dispenses of their funds with the aim of bridging the existent technical gaps.
