Meeting of IIZZS on Information Systems

On the 15^th of February 2013,   representatives of the IIZZS (Istituti Zooprofilattici Sperimentali - Experimental Zooprofilactic Institutes) met in Teramo to attend a technical meeting concerning the information systems developed by Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell'Abruzzo e del Molise "G. Caporale" .

The General Director- Fernando Arnolfo welcomed all participants and said to be proud to host the meeting also considering the strengthening of the IIZZS network : "I hope for an improvement in this respect, so as to prevent IIZZS from suffering a depletion , especially in this historical phase in which p ublic organisations have to justify their own existence every day".

The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the " APPA -RE" Information System used in IZS "G. Caporale" laboratories. The software, developed within the Institute, allows the registration of measuring equipment identification data ,   meeting the requirements laid down by the ISO 17025 standard. More specifically , the information system allows to record and monitor calibrations , maintenance and, where appropriate, the use of the equipment. " APPA-RE" has been developed to avoid the registration of data on paper ,     simplifying the storage of equipment data , and reducing the volumes. . For this purpose, a satellite system has been already developed for transferring temperature data from data loggers.

The meeting, held at the headquarter of the Institute and at the International Center for Veterinary Training and Information - CIFIV in Colleatterrato (Teramo) , was also an opportunity to introduce the Sample Reception Information System with bar-code sample identification and the National Veterinary Information System for Food Safety ( SINVSA).

The meeting was attended by representatives of IZS of Lazio and Tuscany Regions , IZS of Umbria and Marche Regions, and IZS of Mezzogiorno (Campania and Calabria Regions).
