In addition to the institutional services common to all IZSAM locations, the Pescara local branch performs laboratory testing on samples from across the Abruzzo Region in the area of food hygiene for products of animal and plant origin, intended for both human and animal consumption. It also carries out clinical chemistry and haematology tests on serum and blood samples from both companion animals and livestock. Furthermore, it analyses all serum samples—received at any IZSAM location—for the serological diagnosis of leishmaniasis, rickettsiosis, ehrlichiosis, and toxoplasmosis.
