Scirus is a specialized search engine for finding information on the web, published by Elsevier. It indexes a number of specialist resources, among them full-text articles from BioMed Central, MEDLINE citations, full-text articles from ScienceDirect and articles from PubMed Central.

Google Scholar is the search engine from Google which provides a way of carrying out specific searches in the academic and scientific literature: peer-reviewed articles, theses, books, preprints, abstracts, search reports etc. The limitation is that it does not indicate the time covered nor the list and type of searchable material.

CAB Abstract  is a bibliographical database created by CAB International and contains references and abstracts from the world literature on agrarian sciences and related areas: veterinary medicine, nutrition, parasitology and tropical illnesses, livestock rearing and animal production, milk sciences and technology, forestry sciences, pollution and natural resources.

ANABS Analitycal Abstract   is a bibliographical database which contains bibliographical references relating to analytical chemistry from 1980 onwards.

ASFA Aquatic Science and Fisheries Abstract is a bibliographical database created by CSA Proquest. The areas of largest coverage include aquaculture, aquatic organisms, water contamination, brackish environments, quality of the environment, fish, fresh-water environments, limnology, marine biotechnology, marine environment, meteorology, oceanography.

OVID Medline is a bibliographical database which contains, starting from 1950, more than 13 million citations from 4,600 biomedical publications published in the United States and in 70 other countries. The database is created by the National Library of Medicine and covers the entire field of biomedicine.
