Technicians from Bosnia-Herzegovina and Albania in Teramo for CAPS2From 17 to 21 February 2014 Elona Shanu and Ederina Ninga (Food Safety and Veterinary Institute, Albania), Dinaida Tahirović and Dzenita Viteskić (Veterinary Faculty of Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina) have been in Teramo to be trained on heavy metals detection in the Food Chemistry laboratory of the IZSAM.
The training of those four technicians is part of the project "Strengthening of Aquaculture Centres for production and Safety Surveillance in Adriatic Cross-border Countries - CAPS2", co-financed by the EU and by the Adriatic Cross Border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013, aiming at enhancing the health and safety of fish and molluscs in the Adriatic Area. The objective is to strengthen diagnostic abilities and the know-how in the field of heavy metals, benzopyrene, other PAH and biotoxin contamination of fish and molluscs in the Adriatic sea.
As established in work package no. 3, the staff of the project partners shall attend a training period in the IZSAM laboratories relating to different sectors, in order to implement analysis methods to diagnose marine fish and shellfish diseases, as well as to check health standards of living molluscs (EU Regulation no. 853/2004).
