Brucella melitensis: biotyping and differential diagnostic

 

From the 28th to the 30st of July 2014 the inter-sessional meeting of the project "EMIDA ERA-NET PROJECT Brucella melitensis: biotyping and differential diagnostic" was held at the International Centre for Veterinary Training and Information (CIFIV).

 

The project is financed by the cooperation program Seventh Framework Program of the European Commission (FP7) - “ Knowledge based bio-economy –KBBE”, that aims at implementing the the disease control strategies through the development of new diagnostic tests and epidemiological tools needed for the trace-back investigations of outbreaks.

 

The Istituto Zooprofilattico dell’Abruzzo e del Molise “G. Caporale” (IZSAM) is coordinator of the project. The partners are: the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale della Sicilia ‘A.Mirri’- Palermo, the National Agricultural Research Foundation - Veterinary Research Institute of Thessaloniki (NAGREF, Greece), the Laboratory of Clinical Bacteriology, Parasitology, Zoonoses and Geographical Medicine of the University of Crete (Greece), the Kimron Veterinary Institute, Bet Dagan (Kimron, Israel).

 

Around 15 persons participated in the meeting, including the representatives of the national and international project partners and the IZSAM’ staff.

 

The meeting represented an important moment during which partners could exchange opinions with each other, verify the results attained and plan further research activities aiming at achieving the prefixed objectives.
