BRUCELLOSIS 2022 INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH CONFERENCE

INSIGHTS FROM THE CONFERENCE ABOUT CURRENT AND FUTURE BRUCELLOSIS TRENDS

The worldwide fight against brucellosis, especially in Countries where it is still widespread,

faces major challenges, going beyond the borders of veterinary medicine alone to embrace multidisciplinary issues.

We are at an important moment in the fight against diseases that can be transmitted from animals to humans. Our perspective is to capitalize the accumulated knowledge, leading to increasingly incisive actions.

Research on brucellosis vaccines must go hand in hand with strong social and informative

actions about vaccination plans. Such an action must involve all stakeholders.

While in Europe the fight against brucellosis shows positive trends, thanks to effective control programmes in place, the disease is still important in various areas of the planet, where it is still endemic.

In addition to the already well-known ones, other strains of Brucella are being discovered, even within the Amazon rainforest.

It is important to monitor them to verify for any potential danger for humans and livestock.

Modern technologies enable researchers to constantly draw an up-to-date picture of the situation.
