FLAVEAT: innovative training in food law

The 5th transnational meeting of the European project Food Law in Vocational Educational and Training - FLAVEAT, funded by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) under the Erasmus Plus programme, took place in Valencia, Spain, on 28 January 2025.

The three-year project aims to develop and test an innovative eLearning training programme on European legislation, feed and food to meet the training needs of technicians and professionals in the agri-food sector. FLAVEAT aims to create a common space for collaboration, exchange of best practices and knowledge transfer between countries in Mediterranean Europe and the Middle East.

The lead partner of the project is Virtual Campus, a Portuguese SME specialised in the development of innovative training pathways based on digital technologies. The project partnership includes the IZS of Abruzzo and Molise, the Greek SME Creative Thinking Development, the Spanish technology centre AINIA, the Jordanian universities Jordan University of Science & Technology and Al-Balqa Applied University, and the Palestinian universities Palestine Technical University - Kadoorie and Nablus University for Vocational & Technical Education.

The Teramo Institute was represented by Chiara Albanello from the Project Centre and Maria Luisa Danzetta from the Food Hygiene and Technology Department, and during the meeting the partners discussed the progress of the project, the results achieved and the next challenges in the work plan. Special attention was given to the definition of the macro-structure of the four MOOCs (Massive Online Open Courses) designed to train students and professionals in the field of food science.

The next event will take place in Teramo from 11 to 13 February 2025: the Institute will host 8 researchers and professionals in the field from Jordan and Palestine in its laboratories for three days of technical and practical training and mutual sharing of their experiences.
