AIPVet's X Congress 2013 and 'best poster' awards ceremony

On the 30th and 31st May of 2013, "AIPVet's X National Congress 2013" took place at the Centro Congressi Kursaal in Giulianova. It was organised by the Associazione Italiana di Patologia Veterinaria (Italian Association for Veterinary Pathology), the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell'Abruzzo e del Molise (IZSAM) (Experimental centre for infectious diseases in animals of Abruzzo and Molise) "G. Caporale" and the Università degli Studi di Teramo (UNITE) (University of Teramo), in cooperation with the Consorzio Interuniversitario Nazionale per la Bioncologia (National Interuniversity Consortium for Bio-Oncology).

Many internationally renowed speakers attended the Congress, coming from Universities from all over the world: Teramo, Milan, Perugia, Turin, Naples, Pretoria (South Africa), Edinburgh (Scotland), the Louisiana State University (USA) and the University of Queensland (Australia).

The Conference programme began with a first training session dedicated to young pathologists, aimed at preparing them for the examination to obtain the European College Veterinary Pathology diploma; the two later sessions dealt with Comparative oncology and Tropical diseases in wild animals.

During the poster session, which was set up in an area outside the conference hall, speakers' scientific works were displayed. The 2013 Rosario Preziosi award for the best poster was given by the examining commission to the work entitled "Distemper in wild carnivores in Central Apennines: clinical and pathological findings" by Daria Di Sabatino, Giuseppe Marruchella, Gianfranco Romeo, Luca Brugnola, Vincenza Di Pirro, Leonardo Gentile, Alessio Lorusso and Gabriella Di Francesco.
