IZSAM at the 10th International Veterinary Immunology Symposium

From August 28th to September 1st 2013, the 10th International Veterinary Immunology Symposium was held in the central offices of the University of Studies of Milan and sponsored by IZSLER (Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale Lombardia e Emilia Romagna).

The event consisted of five days full of events, parallel sessions and workshops on various topics about immunology and veterinary science; highly regarded Italian and foreign lecturers participated in the gathering. Many participants were present, coming from different parts of the world, and showing their great interest by a consistent attendance.

The main topics were: innate immune systems, regulation of the immune response, the relationship between infections and immunology, animal models and vaccinations. The opening ceremony was hosted by Alberto Mantovani, along with W. Hein, M. Amadori and C. Garlanda as main speakers. The logo of the symposium portrayed a horse head sketched by Leonardo Da Vinci, who lived in Milan for many years. This event followed the ones held in 2010 in Tokyo (Japan), and in 2007 in Ouro Preto (Brazil).

The "G. Caporale" IZSAM (Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale Abruzzo e Molise) participated with 5 scientific banners. Its speakers were the doctors Manuela Tittarelli, Flavio Sacchini and Grazia Bortone.
