On 6 June 2011, the second G. Caporale Institute / Vier Pfoten International Special Prize was presented to the press at the G. Caporale Institute's International Centre for Veterinary Training and Information (CIFIV) at Colleatterrato Alto (Teramo, Italy) on the occasion of the Gianni Di Venanzo Cinema Photography International Award.

This year, the Prize will be awarded to the best audiovisual production (documentary or short) on the subject of "The relationship between humans and animals". Film makers, directors and documentary makers can submit films made especially for the contest, or previously made films which they consider suitable.

In order to increase knowledge of the animal world and all its problems, the "Teramo Nostra" cultural association, which organises the Gianni Di Venanzo Award, aims to involve primary school pupils in creating a pictorial composition on the same subject, as a way of disseminating information and good practice among those who, from childhood, are fascinated by the life of animals, especially pets, an unforgettable experience which they will treasure in future.

Last year's G. Caporale Institute / Vier Pfoten International Special Prize was awarded to La biodiversità del Parco Nazionale del Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga (Biodiversity in the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park), directed by Alessandro Di Federico and filmed by Fernando Di Fabrizio, on the relationship between nature and animals.
