The international workshop on the surveillance and control of West Nile Fever in North Africa, held from 16 to 20 May 2011 in Teramo, Italy, was attended by epidemiologists and laboratory diagnosis specialists from Mauritania, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Italy, Portugal, Spain and France.

The workshop, organised by the G. Caporale Institute, the OIE and the FAO, was among the activities included in the European Arbo-Zoonet programme. The aim is to strengthen the prevention and control of the disease in the Mediterranean, and facilitate collaboration between the Veterinary Services of the North African and European countries in the Mediterranean basin.
