On 4 February 2011, the Institute received a visit from Masumi Ayako, Iwahashi Sachiko and Toshima Takako, three veterinary surgeons from the Japanese Health Ministry who made an inspection trip to Italy to study aspects of food health.

The general organisation of the official tests and inspections conducted on animal feed and human foods in Italy was presented to the Japanese delegation at the Francesco Gramenzi International Veterinary Training and Information Centre at Colleatterrato Alto (TE). Some specific activities performed by the G. Caporale Institute, such as isolation of Listeria monocytogenes from preserved foods and isolation of residues of veterinary drugs, pesticides, environmental pollutants, mycotoxins and hormones, were also presented during the meeting .

In the afternoon, the Japanese delegation visited the National Livestock Database Service Centre and the laboratories at the Institute's headquarters to learn about some aspects of the work performed directly on products of animal origin.
