Two researchers from the Tirana Food Safety and Veterinary Institute (IFSV),  Erlinda Koni and Marsela Bregaj , have attended the G. Caporale Institute for a training period in the ambit of the World Health Organisation (WHO) project "Strengthening Food Control Institutions in Albania". 

 

The aim of the project is to strengthen and consolidate in Albania a health safety system conforming to European legislation by means of central accreditation of a number of analyses required to monitor certain chemical and microbiological risks in the food chain.

The subjects studied by the two researchers related to the validation of methods for the recognition of toxic phytoplankton and the determination of marine biotoxins.

 

The training period took place in Termoli from 17th to 26th January 2011, at the G. Caporale Institute's Marine Biology and Fisheries Centre.
