It is with great pleasure and respect that I quote the words of Ignazio Silone, as they describe, with rare perfection, our last twenty years, during which we have surged on with head forward and a sure step, while always glancing behind us - and not only to watch our backs.

Even though by now our Institute has an international reach, we cannot - and would not want to - forget where we came from, where we continue to live and work. On the contrary: precisely because we work with people from all over the world, we are prouder than ever to show off the majestic beauty of the landscapes that surround us, that never fail to let us feel their strong embrace. If we are what we are, it's also down to the places where we grew up, the wonderful landscapes that provide the backdrop to our daily work, reminding us always to keep our feet firmly on the ground: our ground.
