IZSAM and WOAH

IZSAM has invested heavily in building a stable partnership with the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH). The WOAH recognized the highly specialized expertise of the IZSAM and designated the Institute as a Collaborating Centre for Veterinary Training, Epidemiology, Food Safety and Animal Welfare and Reference Laboratory for various diseases.

The IZSAM has implemented numerous WOAH twinning projects, establishing stable and long-term relationships with the institutions of developing countries. By providing assistance and collaboration to laboratories in developing countries, the IZSAM has improved the scientific capacity of the Veterinary Services of beneficiary countries in diagnostics, surveillance and disease control. Currently, a veterinarian from the IZSAM provides technical and scientific assistance to the Director of the WOAH Sub-Regional Representation for North Africa, based in Tunis, in the implementation of WOAH regional programmes in the areas of animal health and food safety.
