2012 Forum on Risk Management in Healthcare

The 7^th Forum on Risk Management in Healthcare was held in the Arezzo Trade Fair and Conference Centre from 20 to 23 November 2012. The theme of this year's forum was sustainability and the public's right to high-quality, safe healthcare. This is the most important Italian event in the healthcare sector, which this year hosted a forum within a forum: the 1^st edition of the International Development, Environment & Health Forum.

The programme was packed with events, with an uninterrupted sequence of roundtables, workshops and debates. The arguments under discussion, above all those related to the spending review and welfare, were both important and topical. The meeting between the Minister of Health Renato Balduzzi and the Regional Councillors for Health held in the auditorium on the afternoon of Tuesday 20 November was particularly well attended. The main themes of the forum were the sustainability and appropriateness of healthcare, from the perspective of a public health system requiring reorganisation. Minister Balduzzi presented the government's guidelines, emphasising the need for the reorganisation of the entire "world" of health and proposing a means-based charges system.

The directors of various Istituti Zooprofilattici Sperimentali [Experimental Institutes for Veterinary Prophylaxis] (IZS) attended the forum. The Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell'Abruzzo e del Molise Giuseppe Caporale's Director-General Fernando Arnolfo and Healthcare Director Giacomo Migliorati participated in one of the International Forum's sessions on the environment, sustainability and healthcare. The IZS stand proved a popular gathering point for all those interested in veterinary public health.
