The Institute in Botswana

In February an IT delegation of the G. Caporale Institute visited the National Veterinary Laboratory of Gaborone, Botswana. Its mission was to implement and tailor the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), which the Institute specifically designed for African countries.

Patrizia Colangeli, Fabrizio Quaranta and Ercole Del Negro, in collaboration with the Laboratory personnel, proceeded to load base tables and cater for software necessary adjustments as well as hardware and network configuration. They further engaged in matters of internal organisation and in the training of reception personnel, veterinarians responsible for diagnostic cases, and managerial and technical personnel of two pilot departments, i.e., Parasitology and Pathology. The training programme is still taking place on site with doctor Del Negro, who will be staying in the country until mid-march 2012.
