On Saturday, May the 19th, 2012, in the pavilions of the Bologna Fair district, Exposanità concluded its activities regarding the presentation, promulgation and promotion of health care and assistance products and services. The G. Caporale Institute attended the manifestation with its own personnel, exhibiting its publications at the joint stand of Experimental Zooprophylactic Institutes (IIZZSS).

Once more, Exposanità (the International Healthcare Exhibition) addressed itself to national as well as international operators and companies, providing a unique encounter opportunity to lay the grounds for the identification of future development outlines. Its international reach has bestowed upon the manifestation an important added-value, thereby encouraging the exchange of products and knowledge between all participating stakeholders.

Amongst the nine themes configuring the Fair, that of major interest to Italian Experimental Zooprophylactic Institutes and Veterinary Public Health in general was the one on "Organisation, technologies and solutions for Animal Health".

With respect to this theme, the conference entitled "Veterinary public health tools, policies and role for the prevention and management of risks in the livestock sector" , held on Friday, May the 18th, at the Italia Hall, was particularly revealing. Speakers were introduced to the audience by Stefano Cinotti, Director General of the IZS of Lombardy and Emilia Romagna. Amonst them, at the end of his speech entitled "Socio-economic impact of animal diseases and zoonoses", Prof. Giorgio Battelli commemorated the late Prof. Adriano Mantovani, a prestigious figure who long collaborated with the G. Caporale Institute of Teramo.

Dr. Romano Marabell i, Head of the Department for Veterinary Public Health, Food Safety and Collegial Bodies for Health Protection of the I talian Ministry of Health, was entrusted with the meeting's conclusions. In this capacity, he reasserted the primary and unquestionable role of Veterinary Public Health, within the livestock sector and especially in relation to exports. He also visited the IIZZSS stand, which as in many other manifestations aimed to promulgate the services offered by the I nstitutes and raise awareness about their activities, while spreading relative pubblications and reinforcing the close ties between human and animal health protection.
