Conference on bivalve molluscs, Molise

The Conference on Primary production of bivalve molluscs in Molise: a sea of safety was held in the Termoli (CB) Town Council board room on Saturday, 24 November 2012.

The event was organised by Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell'Abruzzo e del Molise G. Caporale and provided an opportunity to present the research activities of its Regional Experimental Centre for Fishing and Aquaculture, based in Termoli, and promote discussion between workers in the sector.

The conference was opened with welcoming speeches by the Mayor of Termoli, Basso Antonio Di Brino, and the Istituto's healthcare director, Giacomo Migliorati. The entire day was dedicated to bivalve molluscs: from production area monitoring plans to purification system efficacy, from the most common diseases to the management and protection of banks of Chamelea gallina clams. The speakers included Nadia Barile, Mauro Di Muzio, Giuseppe Arcangeli and Carla Giansante.

Guest speakers included the Liguria Maritime Director, Admiral Felicio Angrisano, who aroused great interest and curiosity with his account of various episodes from the early years of his professional career in Termoli. The event, which provided an opportunity to gain CEM training credits, also saw the strong participation of the many authorities present.
