On line the new issue of the National Veterinary Epidemiological Bulletin

 

 

This Bulletin presents some interest sections on the spreading out of main diseases notified on the third quarter 2016, the epidemiological situation of main animal diseases and all the outbreaks notified in SIMAN, the species involved and the health state of the Italian Regions until September.

 

On the “Last few months” section, all the updates on outbreaks of Bluetongue serotype 4 (BTV4), which affected much of the Italian Regions, in 2016. Further the BTV4spreading in Italy, they have been notified those outbreaks of Aethina Tumida, Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA) and Anthrax.

 

The section, “Around us”, regards the breeding of Lumpy Skin disease (LSD), in the European Union since 2015. Moreover, there is an article on Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF), a disease caused by a virus belonging to the typically Nairovirus and transmitted by ticks. The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), has recently published a risk assessment on CCHF, which evaluates the risk of transmission by ticks, the risk of nosocomial transmission by of human origin substances, recommending different action choices.

 

On the section “Free Territories” they have been recognized Brindisi, in Puglia, - Italy, as free from Brucellosis (B. melitensis), after the publication of the Eropean Decision 2016/1811 - 11 October 2016, which amends the Annex II of the Decision 93/52 / CEE.

OIE project to support Vector-Borne Diseases Surveillance in North Africa "Rift Valley Fever as first application"

Developing models and technological tools for identifying areas suitable for Vector Borne Diseases spread: the Rift Valley Fever application. The aim of the tool is to support a targeted surveillance to optimize financial and human resources.

LEarning GenOmics for food safety - LEGO

The final conference of the LEGO project will be held on 20 Decembre. The initiative, funded by the European Erasmus+ Programme and led by IZSAM, defined the new professional profile of the Food Microbial Bioinformatician (FMB). Registrations are possible until
